Smile Again Families Uganda came out to  address the challenge  of  teenage pregnancy as part of its intervention to reduce the numbers of female adolescents dropping out of school and to safe guard them against risks associated with teenage pregnancy and early marriages.

We hosted our annual Summit, called Your Worth Summit from 24th-26th July 2019, under the theme, Come to Me and I will refresh you. Matthew 11:28″

This year we registered 55 teenage mothers, which number increased from 20 girls of last year, which is a clear indication of the rise in the need in the country. This summit was aimed at helping the teenage mothers to discover their inner worth and beauty. We desire that they can find this beauty in Christ.

Listening to their stories, 80% of these girls have been raped, or used by so called friends and most of the time dumped. The summit therefore is meant to start a healing process on the wounds that have been placed on their beautiful souls, for the girls to know that they are still  beautiful, loved , cherished, honored and are worth. Nothing can be compared to the beauty and gift they are to the world. We desire that this giftedness and potential within them is tapped and brought forth for the world to benefit from it.

Your Worth Summit also reawakens their mind, to the long lost dreams within them and as an organization we support them to realize these dreams.

This year we were blessed with the presence of two beautiful sisters Caitlin and Bridget from Boston, USA and Amber a missionary staff with Catholic Christian Outreach from Canada, who shared their lives and stories with the teenage mothers and their babies.

From the summit our youngest mother Viola, 14 years from Kamulegu village, said that, ”  I have learnt about self control to keep sexually pure, to work hard so that I am not dependent, and to trust in the Lord.” Viola dreams of becoming a fashion designer.

The Lord Mayor of Masaka Municipality, Mr. Kayemba Afaayo graced the summit and in his speech said, ” I have been reawakened to the need in our community, I didn’t imagine it was this big. I ask you young mothers to stay and work with this family that you have found to help you be become better people and I also promise to be part of this family.”
